CHB Ambassador

Mary Ann Berg, left, and Anna Rhodus, right, took time out of their busy schedules to help with the launch of Certified Hereford Beef® at United Supermarkets.

Berg operates a Hereford cow-calf operation with her husband, Jerry, in the heart of Ohio. She received a bachelor’s degree in vocational home economics education in 1964, and has taught nutrition and consumer classes in public schools and youth organizations.

Rhodus and her husband, Matt, have raised Herefords for 20 years. In addition to her farm responsibilities, she worked 29 years for Honeywell International, a diversified technology and manufacturing leader, in various management and educational positions.

The CHB Ambassador program was created to provide Hereford enthusiasts, both Junior and Adult, with the opportunity to learn about, and participate in, Certified Hereford Beef marketing. They are involved in a wide array of promotional and educational activities, such as product demos and sampling, women’s food show appearances, and various charitable events that CHB participates in each year.

Ambassadors are trained to have the most current beef nutritional information, innovative cooking techniques, and first hand knowledge of the Certified Hereford Beef Program; but because they come from beef producing backgrounds, their influence is far greater. It is their ties to and knowledge of the breed that makes them such strong spokespersons. Their tremendous amount of experience and firsthand knowledge of not only the beef industry as a whole, but more importantly, the Hereford breed allows them to easily relate to consumers on a personal level. Along with their inviting personalities, these CHB Ambassadors quickly become experts on the product and help to influence healthy meal options for consumers’ family dinner tables.

With the help of the American Hereford Women, the National Organization of Pollettes, and the American Hereford Association; CHB Ambassadors are given the opportunity to travel all over the country with their message. They serve 2 year terms and commit to at least 6 events (2-3 days each) per year.
